Eat Smart
Health Services - EAT SMART Missoula Coalition
The Eat Smart Coalition celebrates the beginning of a new year with our first meeting of 2012 on Tuesday, January 10th, at 2 PM at The Missoula City-County Health Department. Meetings serve as a forum for community leaders to:
- Systematically review evidenced based interventions (both in our community and in the nation) that promote healthy eating and chronic disease prevention
- Discuss overarching principals and roles of commerce, politics and science as they influence food selection by Missoula residents
- Help prioritize community interventions that fit within Missoula communities to promote healthy nutrition and healthy weight for local residents.
- Identify resources and community partners to facilitate implementation of recommended population based strategies and interventions.

Celebrate the Essential, Drinking Water May 6-12, 2012
The United States has
one of the safest public drinking water supplies in the world. Tap water not only provides water for daily activities such as drinking, bathing, and cooking, it also benefits the entire community by providing water to serve businesses, schools, and hospitals, and to promote overall health.
May 6–12, 2012, is Drinking Water Week, an annual observance whose theme, "Water: Celebrate the Essential." Drinking Water Week is a time to highlight the importance of safe drinking water and recognize that protecting and reinvesting in water infrastructure is crucial to the health of persons living in the United States.
